Women that are considered high risk for breast cancer with troublesome menopause symptoms should be offered referral to a menopause specialist and lifestyle and non-hormonal alternatives recommended first line.
HRT is not necessarily contraindicated, however if the woman is high risk for breast cancer she should be referred and HRT can be considered on an individual basis following specialist input and patient discussion.
Vaginal oestrogens are not contraindicated.
