It is estimated that around 1 in 7 people in the UK have a type of neurodiversity.
The most common types of neurodiversity include:
- Autism and autistic spectrum conditions.
- ADHD: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADD: attention deficit disorder.
- Dyscalculia.
- Dyspraxia or developmental co-ordination disorder.
- Dyslexia.
Some other types of neurodiversity:
There are many other examples of how brains can process information differently.
Some individuals consider these other examples to be part of the neurodiversity umbrella, and others like to keep them separate. There is not a right or wrong answer. Examples include:
- Cognitive function difficulties or executive dysfunction.
- Dysgraphia.
- Misophonia.
- Slow processing speed.
- Stammering.
- Tourette's syndrome.
