- NICE says that taking HRT is not associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and HRT is not generally associated with an adverse effect on blood glucose control.
- HRT is not recommended for the prevention of diabetes.
NOTE:
- HRT should not be withheld from women with a history of diabetes.
- Women with diabetes have an increased risk of endometrial cancer and therefore if given HRT they must receive an adequate dose of progestogen.
