Diagnose surgical menopause if both ovaries have been removed before a woman goes through natural menopause. This may be with or without removal of the womb.
- If the woman is aged 40–44 years at the time, this will cause an early menopause.
- If the woman is aged <40 years, this will cause premature ovarian insufficiency.
