Thank you for your feedback
- Until recently, people on HRT have had to pay for each item of a prescription, even when two hormones were contained in a single pack.
- Women sometimes had to pay multiple times per year, and more frequently if doses were changed.
- The new HRT prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) was rolled out on 1.4.2023.
- The HRT PPC covers an unlimited number of certain HRT medications for 12 months.
- The HRT PPC does not cover all HRT types (for example it does not cover testosterone). To see the list of HRT medications covered by the HRT PPC, visit the NHS BSA website.
- Prescribers must complete a separate FP10 for each item covered by the HRT PPC to allow patients to claim the exemption correctly.
- The cost of an HRT PPC is £19.30.
- Each item on an NHS prescription usually costs £9.65. A HRT PPC therefore covers the cost of two single items.
NOTE:
- For link to purchase, see HRT PPC webpage.
- They are also available at pharmacies registered to sell them.
