- After the menopause, fibroids usually decrease in size.
- This is thought to occur due to dropping levels of oestrogen.
- However, the decrease in size of fibroids might be reduced by taking HRT.
- For a small number of women, use of HRT may be associated with an increase in volume of existing fibroids.
- HRT is not associated with the development of new fibroids.
- Fibroids are not a contraindication to HRT.
