- Women with early menopause (aged 40-44 years) should be offered information and support similarly to women with POI.
- NICE says there is a lack of evidence about possible benefits or risks of using HRT in relation to health outcomes and further research is needed in this area. The benefits and risks of either taking or not taking HRT are likely to lie between those for people with premature ovarian insufficiency and those for people aged 45 or over.
- The most recent update from NICE states that evidence shows an increased risk of breast cancer for people with early menopause who used HRT compared to those not using HRT.
