Other causes for genitourinary symptoms should be considered.
OTHER CAUSES MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Vulval dermatoses such as lichen planus, lichen sclerosus, vulval dermatitis or vulval psoriasis.
- Vulval intraepithelial neoplasia or cancer.
- Cervical pathology.
- Skin changes following radiotherapy.
- Trauma.
- Inflammation secondary to an irritant.
- Female genital mutilation.
- Neuralgia.
- Sexually transmitted infection.
- Thrush.
- Bacterial vaginosis.
Note:
Less common causes exist outside this list. Where there is uncertainty about the underlying cause, consider referring to a vulval specialist.
