This tool is designed for health care professionals looking after women experiencing menopause symptoms.
All professionals should work within the limits of their training and expertise and referrals should be considered if needed.
A menopause specialist or equivalent local service can advise and support colleagues in managing complex menopause related needs and risk factors affecting decision-making. This team will have specialist knowledge, skills and training in assessing and treating:
- Troublesome menopausal symptoms.
- Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI).
- Complex medical problems that potentially affect the use of treatments for menopause symptoms.
- Menopause symptoms for those at elevated risk of breast or ovarian cancer or with a personal history of hormone dependent cancer, in collaboration with oncologists.
The British Menopause Society has an online tool that can be used to find your nearest menopause specialist.
